Pula city breaks, Istria Holidays - short stays and long weekend breaks in Pula
Pula is the largest city in Istria and has so much to offer in terms of history and culture as well as its collection of world class beaches. This wonderful coastal city is known for its pretty natural harbor, fabulous beaches and Roman ruins. Once occupied by the Romans, the city is an open air museum complete with a magnificent example of a 1st century Roman amphitheatre, Arch of the Sergii and forum. The forum or town square always has something going on from markets to open air concerts.
The Pula Riviera as it is known has plenty of beaches to choose from with the best located in Punta Verudela, Banjole, Fazana and Premantura. However, if you want to be surrounded by pristine natural beauty, head to Fažana and take the 20 minute ferry ride to the Brijuni Islands. This is a group of 14 small islands separated from the west coast of the Istrian peninsula by the narrow Fažana Strait. The islands have been designated a national park and it is packed with white sany beaches, woods and 200 dinosaur footprints!
