Calvi villa holidays, Corsica Holiday rentals - villas & holiday homes to rent in Calvi

Calvi is stunning medieval town on the northwest coast of Corsica. Standing proud on its headland it is a citadel comprising of a magnificent thirteenth century fortress overlooking the marina, which is a remarkable example of architectural and cultural heritage. It is reputedly the birthplace of Christopher Columbus, and statues are found of him around the town and the remains of his house can still be seen today. Its beautiful sweeping bay of white powdery sand is fringed by pine woods and lapped by crystal clear water.

Calvi is thought of as Corsica’s capital of culture and there is an impressive art exhibition which takes place from June to September, as well as it playing host to many music festivals during the summer including Calvi on the Rocks in July and Rencontres de Chants Polyphoniques in September. In the evening the town has a lively atmosphere with an array of quayside cafés which overlook the luxury yacht-filled harbour, and a delightful choice of restaurants and clubs to choose from.
